Long tradition of legends
The period since 1817 has witnessed the evolution of Presidency from Hindoo College (1817-1855) to Presidency College (1855-2010) and finally to Presidency University. This evolution was the theme of our Bicentennial Celebration in 2017-18: Hindoo College to Presidency University – Celebrating 200 Years of Excellence (1817-2017). The Hindoo College was established on January 20, 1817 by Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Radhakanta Deb, David Hare and other prominent personalities and that very day is celebrated every year as The Founders’ Day.
